Milan Coach Marvin Wood is pictured with his family (top left). His wife, Mary Lou, is known for saying, "It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice," at a celebration in 1954. The old Milan High School (top right) stood on property where the school administration building is today. The '54 championship drew a lot of attention. The Hinkle Fieldhouse was packed to the rafters, and tickets were being scalped for up to $50.
